I became interested in Christian Science in 1919 through a friend who was living in my house. Before accepting it I resented it very much, but I decided to purchase and read Science and Health, to prove that Mrs. Eddy had the wrong conception of the Bible and Christ Jesus. When I was about halfway through the book, suddenly I saw clearly that its teachings were correct.

My first healing was the discarding of my glasses, which I had worn for several years. There have been many other healings, including those of bad scalds and influenza, which was overcome by my memorizing "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). I fell asleep and awakened healed and could go about my work as usual. This filled my heart with joy and gratitude. Once I stepped on a nail, which went almost through my foot; the resulting condition was healed in three days.

Words cannot express the joy, peace, and harmony that Christian Science has brought into my life. We have to be alert to protect our thinking and hold fast to that which is good. The Manual of The Mother Church by our revered Leader is indispensable in guiding our thinking.
