With this testimony I wish to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine. May it be especially helpful to those whose way seems stony and hard.

At a time when my world was collapsing and I was about to be taken to a sanitarium for nervous disorders because of my mental condition, Christian Science was brought to me by a friend who had been healed of mental suffering. The first Wednesday testimony meeting in a Christian Science church I attended made a great impression on me, and I particularly remembered a testimony that was given by a mother.

I began to read The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition), but I did not attend the church services, because I did not want to go alone. When my condition became unbearable, however, and seemed to be affecting my child adversely. I got hold of myself, sought help from a practitioner, and commenced attending the services regularly. I did not seem to grasp anything, but the moments of silent prayer brought me peace. Having to go alone to the services proved to be a great blessing: I became more self-reliant and assured.
