I CONFER NOT WITH THE FLESH

How clear is our concept of the word "I," which we so often use in our daily conversation? When we use it, are we conscious of ourselves as the reflection of Love, Mind, Spirit, substance. Principle, as the child of God, His image and likeness?

Paul understood that the real I confers not with flesh and blood when the Son, or Christ, is revealed in us. He says (Gal. 1:15, 16), "When it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood."

Our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, teaches us to discern through the inspired Word of the Bible the real I by learning to identify ourselves as the sons of God. Jesus said (John 12:32), "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.'" Then we must lift our thought above the earth-identifying I and so live that we shall demonstrate man's divine sonship, or the Christ.
