For several years I suffered from periods of blindness due to what the medical profession calls trachoma. These periods were very painful, and the sunlight seemed unbearable. The doctors were kind and sympathetic, but finally told me that I would be totally blind in a short time.

My husband had been healed of ulcers of the stomach in one Christian Science treatment by a friend who asked me to try this Science for my eyes. I was fearful and for a while reluctant to give up treatment by the doctors. But one day the treatment was so painful that I threw all the medicine away and asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. After the work in Science was started, I lost my sight entirely, and for three years the practitioner, my husband, and I worked for my healing. I never became impatient and never doubted that God would heal me through Christian Science.

My vision returned slowly, like the opening of a flower. Each day I could see a little more clearly. Finally all inflammation was gone, and I could see the sunshine again without agonizing pain. One of the mental qualities which helped to bring about my healing was gratitude. I began to thank God every minute of the day for His wonderful goodness. I thanked Him for His entire creation. And as I really began to feel in my heart the gratitude that I was voicing, my healing began. I can do all things that are required of me.
