It is with a great deal of gratitude...

It is with a great deal of gratitude that I recall the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, Malaria, grippe, colds, smoking, and the lack of loving companionship have been overcome by the application of this Science, partly through my own efforts and partly through the loving and able assistance of a practitioner.

During five years of sailing enemy-infested waters, I enjoyed remarkable protection. Even though my ship took part in both the North African and the Normandy invasion in their early stages, we did not suffer a single casualty. During the Battle of the North Atlantic, my ship was sunk in a late fall month off Iceland, and despite having been dragged down with the ship and having had to float and swim in the water for nearly three hours afterward, I suffered only minor injuries. Truly, God heard my voice during those trying times, and I feel that the knowledge of Life acquired through my study of Christian Science made this possible.

Countless times I have found that Christian Science is demonstrable in fields outside those of healing and protection. Seemingly insurmountable obstacles kept showing up when I attempted to get my wife into the United States from England. Nevertheless, when the time came for her to come and join me, the way was cleared, and she was one of the first of the wives to be sent over.
