"WHERE SHALL THE GAZE REST . . .?"

"It all depends upon the point of view," is an expression frequently used to indicate that one's character, judgment, and experience are closely related to a particular bias of thought. But students of Christian Science are learning that, instead of there being many points of view because there are many mortal minds, there is in reality only one Mind, God, the Mind of man made in His image and likeness, spiritual and perfect.

It is from this standpoint Mary Baker Eddy indicates that we approach the regeneration and healing of sick, sinning, and suffering humanity, indeed, she writes in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appeals to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."

This "correct view of man" sees the present perfection and harmony of man as the child of the one perfect God, and so lifts mortal thinking above false beliefs and material desires. When thought is held steadfastly to this concept of perfect God and perfect man, healing from the standpoint of material man's imperfection is reversed. This truth of man's inherent perfection as a child of God, already equipped by his creator with all that is needful to his harmonious functioning, when consistently adhered to. destroys the lies of mortal belief.
