This testimony is given in deep...
This testimony is given in deep gratitude for Christian Science and in the hope that it will help other parents to be willing to place their children in the care of the one Father-Mother God. I accepted Christian Science after about eighteen years of membership and attendance in an orthodox church. My study was not always continuous, but when problems of supply, place, health, and right companionship arose, they were all harmoniously met through Christian Science treatment.
At the time of the birth of our son, earnest study was resumed and harmonious childbirth was experienced. A problem of feeding arose after the baby was taken home. In my anxiety I took him to a baby doctor, who prescribed a medicine. This was given regularly, but there was no change in his condition. On the third visit to the doctor she mentioned a condition of phloric stenosis, which she believed to be present and advised X rays, adding that the condition would probably require a major operation.
An appointment was made for the X rays and another consultation. But the seriousness of the mortal mind picture awoke me to the need of Christian Science. I called on the Christian Science practitioner who had helped me during the birth of the child, and she told me that I would have to decide whether I wanted Christian Science or medical help. She gave me help while a decision was being reached. My husband and I decided to rely entirely on God through Christian Science. I canceled the appointments with the doctors and started more earnest study of this Science. The baby seemed better immediately, but my fears still bound him. On the evening of the fifty day the condition still seemed to exist. I felt I could do no more, and in rather a state of despair I told my husband that I was willing to leave the child in God's hands. This was what the practitioner had been trying to make me understand and do—to realize that I could do nothing of myself, and to let go, and let God's work be manifested.
