I am indeed grateful for Christian Science...
I am indeed grateful for Christian Science and for all the blessings and healings I have received. In 1901, I was sent out from a hospital with consumption. The doctors said that they could do no more for me and that I had only a short time to live. I had been home only a few days when a lady from my husband's place of business came to see me and brought some copies of Christian Science literature for me. Up to this time I had never even heard of this Science.
The friend talked with me and at my request began to help me. I was so weak that I could not hold the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but it was propped up in bed in such a position that I could read it. Christian Science help was given each day, and I soon began to understand what I was reading. I gradually became stronger and soon was able to get up. This was in May, 1901. In October, 1902, I went to London to my first Christian Science church service, and after that I had a firmer understanding of God and man. I continued to grow stronger in every way until I was entirely free and well. I am so grateful to God for Christian Science and for the knowledge that He does not send sickness, but makes man eternally free.
Some years later an inward growth was discovered on my left side. Because of the fear of my family, who were not Christian Scientists, a doctor was called, and he said that I could not live more than a month without an operation. But I would not submit to it. I was the only Christian Scientist in our little town at this time, so I decided to go to London and find a practitioner, for I knew that God would take care of me. I prayed that I would be led to find the right practitioner to help me, and I was. She helped me immediately, and I left her office spiritually uplifted and confident that I would soon be well. Treatment was given every day for a month, and at the end of that time I was completely and permanently healed.
