I suffered from a stroke of paralysis at the age of eighty-one. I was taken to the hospital, and the doctors, who were very loving and kind, told me that they could do no more for me. I was then taken to my son's home, and a local doctor was called. He also told me that he could do nothing for me. I received several treatments from a chiropractor, which gave me some relief, but he could give me no promise of a permanent cure.

My daughter-in-law lovingly read a little of Christian Science to me, as she thought it would help me, and another relative, also interested in Christian Science, came to see me often and brought me periodicals to read. She finally asked if she could send a practitioner to call on me, and I consented.

The practitioner told me that the qualities of God, such as activity, flexibility, energy, are in Mind; that they were still right where they had always been; that nothing had happened or could happen to God's creation. She told me that she would work for me and assured me that through prayer I could be healed.
