I am happy to be a student of...
I am happy to be a student of Christian Science, and I should like to tell what first caused me to become interested in this religion. I had read The Christian Science Monitor, also some of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy some years back, but I did not take a serious interest in Christian Science until about three years ago, when my son-in-law was wonderfully healed of asthma. He was so ill that three doctors said there was nothing more they could possibly do for him. When they left, he called his wife to him and asked her to get a Christian Science practitioner, saying, "I am going to get well."
After the practitioner had treated him, my son-in-law removed the pillows which propped him up and soon went to sleep. He slept like a baby for about two hours and upon awakening said he felt better. In five days he was back at his desk in his place of business, healed. The desire for cigaretts left him at the same time.
A few months later he and his family drove about a thousand miles to visit me. I could hardly believe my eyes when I went out to meet him; he looked twenty years younger than he had when I had seen him two years before. After I learned what had happened, how could I help becoming interested in such a wonderful religion? I immediately subscribed for the Sentinel. My daughter and I got Science and Health, which was in a trunk in the storeroom, and began reading it daily. Also we have borrowed other authorized books on Christian Science from the Reading Room and have enjoyed them, and we attend church services at a local Church of Christ, Scientist.
