During my childhood I suffered every winter from tonsillitis and was absent from school for weeks at a time. While still in my teens I was invited to spend the summer with my aunt, who lived in a large, distant city. I enjoyed the change so much that I decided to seek employment and remain there.

I had never heard of Christian Science, but attended an orthodox Sunday School and prayed in the best way I knew how that I might secure a good position. Not long afterward I met a friend of my aunt's who was considered a good Christian man, and I asked him if he could assist me in securing a position. He gave me a card of introduction to a friend of his who was an executive of a large firm, and through this connection I obtained a position in delightful and harmonious surroundings. Months later, I learned that my employer was a Christian Scientist. Little by little I was told of Christian Science and at the holiday season was presented with a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This book became a treasure to me. There was no return of tonsillitis the following winter, and during the next ten years I was never absent from the office due to illness.

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the joy and blessings of all kinds I have experienced through the years.
