LAMP IN THE NIGHT

Pearl Strachan Hurd

Deep the yearning
Of the heart learning,
Tired of grief.
To those reaching,
Cold preaching
Gives no relief.

Love one another;
Show example.
The needy brother
Will find ample
The mercy
Of the Father-Mother.

Lamp in the night
Steadily burning
Guides the wanderer
Past each turning.
Nothing more bright
Than love's light.
