Many times after becoming an earnest student of Christian Science I was asked, "What would you do if you broke a bone?" I have answered, "I don't know; if that time ever comes, I will then decide." And then I would refer to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 402). Here our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, after speaking of treatment of broken bones, says, "However, it is but just to say that the author has already in her possession well-authenticated records of the cure, by herself and her students through mental surgery alone, of broken bones, dislocated joints, and spinal vertebrae."

The time did come some years ago for me to make a decision. Late one Sunday night, while staying at a small, old-fashioned hotel, I broke my shoulder. I was able to get to my bed, where I lay in great pain for five hours. When someone came, I resisted the insistence to call a doctor or go to the hospital, and I asked that telegram be sent to a Christian Science practitioner. In an hour the pain was gone. During Monday I lay quietly in a normal position, moving only when necessary. Tuesday noon I dressed and went down two flights of stairs to dinner; Wednesday I walked three blocks to the post office for my mail; and Thursday afternoon I got in my car and drove about seventy-five miles, attending to my duties as a Wartime Minister in a large Army post. In a very short time I was using my arm normally, and the healing was complete.

I am grateful for this healing, as well as for many others which I have had, and for activity in the branch churches of which I have been a member.—Thomas Benjamin Monson, Washington, District of Columbia.
