SELF-CONTROL VERSUS BONDAGE

Man knows what is good for him. He knows because God knows. In the realization of that spiritual fact lies the solution of mankind's problems of control. If men and women individually and collectively cultivated the spiritual understanding that man knows all that is good and only what is good, that understanding would operate progressively to eliminate all belief in the necessity for domination of human beings by human beings. It would destroy the false sense of desire for and acceptance of dependence of person upon person, appealing as political dictatorship, social tyranny, economic enslavement, or even, for instance, as diet formulas to control one's sense of what is good for him as food.

The fact that man is supplied with correct knowledge of what sustains him in perfect harmony was glimpsed at least as long ago as the time of the ancient Biblical prophet Micah, who declared, "He [God] hath shewed thee, O man, what is good."

It was proved by Christ Jesus in his healing ministry of self-understanding as the Son of the divine Father, an understanding he bequeathed to his disciples throughout all time. It was attested by the Apostle Paul in his assurance to the Philippians (2:13), "It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
