Science and Health illumines the Scriptures for one made skeptical by scholastic theology

THE BIBLE AND CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

Very frequently at a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Christian Science church one hears that the most valued aspect of the teaching of Christian Science is that it has given the spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures and has spiritualized the thinking of the student, and that this is of greater value to him than the physical benefits received.

Ministers of the gospel sometimes give testimony that through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the teaching of the Bible has been illumined with new meaning. Unbelievers declare that when they began to study Christian Science, they found a God in whom they could believe and then were naturally led to the Bible. The fact that Christian Scientists are daily demonstrating the divine power in accord with Scriptural teaching shows that their daily study of the Bible is enabling them to bring forth signs following.

When speaking of her discovery of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 110): "In following these leadings of scientific revelation, the Bible was my only textbook. The Scriptures were illumined; reason and revelation were reconciled, and afterwards the truth of Christian Science was demonstrated."
