Effective help given by Wartime Minister

I have known of Christian Science for twenty-three years and have received numerous blessings through the application of its teachings. I am very grateful for the privilege I had of attending a Christian Science Sunday School and later for the opportunity of teaching there.

This Science was a great help to me during the time I was in the services. I should like to express gratitude here for the work of the Christian Science Wartime Ministers, who were always ready to help and encourage during dark times. While I was in the Middle Fast, I hurt my leg falling into a slit trench. At the time I was not alert enough, and later on the leg turned septic, and I was compelled by my senior noncommissioned officer to go to the Reception Station in the camp. The doctor was most understanding when I explained that I was a Christian Scientist and had come in against my will. She said that she would not put anything on my leg except water bandages and that I was to stay in bed.

A few days later, on Sunday, I asked to be allowed to go to church. Permission was granted. Previously I had been told that if my leg was no better by Monday I would have to go into hospital to see a specialist. At the service I saw the Wartime Minister and told him what had taken place. He immediately declared that in reality man was normal right then and therefore I did not have to wait until Monday to realize it. I felt sure of my healing, and on Monday morning reported quite happily to the doctor, who simply said that I was all right and fit for work. No mention was made of the specialist.
