Christian Character

The Rev. Dr. Theodore Cuyler Speers in a sermon reported in the New York Herald Tribune, New York

Christian character never comes to fulfillment in an atmosphere that is "cuddled and coddled," but its vitality springs up in the rocky soil of "conflict and competition," Rev. Dr. Theodore Cuyler Speers said. ... "The Christian faith was made for contests," he said, "and its best fruits are always produced out of the harsh soil of difficulty and danger. It will always bear fruit if its roots make constant contact with the source of its life in God."
