Seeing man's indestructible nature replaces fearfulness with joy

MAN IS CHANGELESS, HARMONIOUS, AND BEAUTIFUL

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, explains to us in her writings that real being is painless, beautiful, harmonious, unchanging, glorious, and free, and that man in his true selfhood knows only this being and is forever expressing it. This real man dwells in the realm of Spirit, wherein are freshness, fragrance, and fairness, the loveliness of Soul! He is above all mortal belief of sin, sickness, and death. He dwells only in the sinless realm, the realm of health and holiness. His senses are spiritual, and he is unceasingly expressing the harmony and perfection of his Maker, God.

Man is forever at one with God. He is conscious only of divine Love and its manifestation, its all-harmonious universe. Nothing can mar his sense of harmony. He eternally expresses the nature of the One "altogether lovely." No belief of evil can touch man, for he is the idea of God, good, who maintains His idea in perfect harmony. On page 262 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" Mrs. Eddy says: "God creates man perfect and eternal in His own image. Hence man is the image. idea, or likeness of perfection—an ideal which cannot fall from its inherent unity with divine Love, from its spotless purity and original perfection."

As the student of Christian Science, through his earnest study and daily striving to demonstrate what Science teaches, glimpses this changeless, harmonious, indestructible nature of man, his thought is lifted above a sense of frailty. He sees that man is immune to evil. He sees sin and evil as false belief, not belonging to himself or to his fellow man. He sees evil for what it is—a lie, that which has never been any part of man or true being. This perception of true selfhood as being wholly good enables him naturally to express honesty, truthfulness, justice, and uprightness in all his affairs.
