Recognition that God, good, is all-powerful is necessary in demonstrating Truth

MAKING FAITH WORK

Faith is an active spiritual quality necessary to the working out of one's salvation and the overcoming of the belief of evil. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 307, 308). Mary Baker Eddy writes of Truth as ever calling to mortal man: "'Adam, where art thou? Consciousness, where art thou? Art thou dwelling in the belief that mind is in matter, and that evil is mind, or art thou in the living faith that there is and can be but one God, and keeping His commandment?'"

An understanding of God as divine Principle, the only cause and creator, the only Mind, power, reality, and presence, and of man as the perfect idea of perfect Mind enables one to have complete faith in God. This faith strengthens one, causing him to hold firmly and buoyantly to the truth of being despite mortal mind's lies.

Once having been healed of disease or of sinful beliefs through the understanding of the oneness of God, divine Mind, and man, the perfect image of Love, one may be confident in the face of any aggressive suggestion of evil, because he knows that what he has proved of divine Love before, he can and will prove again. If he demonstrates the wholehearted faith described in the epistle of James (2:18), "I will shew thee my faith by my works," he will prove man's relationship with his Father-Mother God, infinite Mind.
