Singing of hymn aids restoration of hearing

I should like to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science and for all it has done for me and mine.

One day I awakened to find that I could not hear anything. At that time my mother was very new in Science, so a practitioner was called, and work was taken up. I remained deaf for several weeks. Then one day my mother was ironing by my bed and singing Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Poems, p. 14). She handed me the Christian Science Hymnal and showed me the hymn. I started singing, not knowing whether I was following her or not, when little by little I realized that I could hear again, the joy, love, and gratitude that filled our hearts that day are beyond explaining.

Once around Christmas time, during the so-called depression, my mother and four small girls were left alone. We were told that the lights and gas were going to be shut off and that there was no coal or food for a Christmas meal. My mother knew that God supplies all our needs and that even before we ask, He knows and answers. We all expressed gratitude for having each other, for God, for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for our dear Leader,' Mary Baker Eddy. By Christmas Day our lights and gas were on and paid for; we had coal for our stove and food for a most delicious dinner, and even enough food left over for several days. It has been and always will be one of my most treasured demonstrations of God's loving care. Truly "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494).—(Mrs.) Jacqueline Fay Lockwood, Los Angeles, California.
