Spiritual freedom gained through scientific prayer

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:2).

My heart is filled with rejoicing for the glorious truth of Christian Science, which has brought healing and regeneration into my life. This liberating truth came to me during the so-called depression years, when a great sense of lack and inharmony prevailed and there seemed to be no peace for me. Sleeplessness and nervousness attended this wrong thinking. Science was indeed the light coming into ray consciousness, and it gave me hope to go forward and to overcome these problems which seemed so insurmountable.

One day when I was alone, I remembered this statement by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 133): "Three times a day, I retire to seek the divine blessing on the sick and sorrowing, with my face toward the Jerusalem of Love and Truth, in silent prayer to the Father which 'seeth in secret," and with childlike confidence that He will reward 'openly.'" In my desperation and my earnest desire to find this blessing, I turned to "the Jerusalem of Love and Truth" and prayed. Suddenly a great light shone about me. I had touched the hem of Christ's garment and was healed. This glorious revelation stayed with me for months and lifted me completely out of any sense of material striving. Where there had been inharmony there was now perfect harmony; and lack soon was seen to be a lie of material sense. My joy and uplifted consciousness made me eager to strive to learn more of this God-inspired religion.
