Instantaneous healing of smoking habit

Although it was my privilege to have a Christian mother and to be brought up in a Christian home, to attend church services, Sunday School, and other activities, and finally become a member of an orthodox church, I did not obtain an understanding of what God really is. As I branched out in the business world, I became apathetic and withdrew my letter from the church. Later I married, and through this beautiful companionship became interested in Christian Science and attended church services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings. Obtaining a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and a Christian Science Quarterly, I commenced to study the Lesson-Sermon daily, also the Manual of The Mother Church. As my profession made it necessary for me to do considerable traveling, I always attended one of the branch churches in my territory.

I am grateful for the many blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science. While visiting a Christian Science practitioner on a business matter, I was healed instantaneously of the smoking habit, also of the mesmerism of social drinking. Through the study of the Bible and Science and Health I have been generously supplied with all my daily needs. An instantaneous physical healing occurred when I fell in the cellar of my home. As I stepped into space, I turned to "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). I landed on my ankle and turned it. The thought that there are no accidents in divine Mind permitted me to arise immediately and complete my errand. Coming back up the stairs that I had missed going down, I entered my car and proceeded about my Father's business, driving the car all day with no painful result. The discoloration that manifested itself entirely disappeared in a few days.

I was healed of grief when a dear one passed on. I am exceedingly grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am most grateful to God and to Mrs. Eddy for the unfoldment of this wonderful truth, which reveals that "Mind manifests all that exists in the infinitude of Truth" (ibid., p. 258).—Alfred E.
