Instantaneous healing of bronchial cold leads to study of textbook
When I was sixteen years old, Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, who said that I could be healed of a bronchial cold. My mother gave her consent for me to go to see a practitioner, and I was healed in one treatment. The next day I went to a Christian Science Sunday School and continued going there until I was twenty.
When out walking some time later with this friend and talking about Christian Science, I had a slight bilious attack. Then I realized that I had not had one since my first instantaneous healing of the bronchial cold. Previously these attacks had regularly confined me to bed for days at a time. I felt so grateful for my freedom from this erroneous condition that the bilious condition disappeared, never to return. Chronic constipation has finally been healed after much help from practitioners and steadfast, consecrated work on my part. Many times I felt I was healed, but not until the fear was eliminated and I knew that "now are we the sons of God" (I John 3:2) was the condition completely overcome. Through my work on this problem my disposition improved, and I learned the true sense of love. That "trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 66) has been made clear to me; and as we use these trials as steppingstones, we go up higher in our understanding of God.
I am grateful for the many healings and the spiritual growth gained through the application of Christian Science as taught by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, also for class instruction and for the privilege of church work. Daily study of our textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health, and the reading of our periodicals give me help for every need. I am grateful for Christian Science. —(Mrs.) Ruby L. Murray, Golf, Illinois.
