Advertising means directing the mind toward an object or objective. The advertising of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, means directing the human mind, or consciousness, toward the Christ-mind. When inspired by love for God and man and directed by divine Mind, newspaper advertising of the textbook is proving to be an effective method of preaching the gospel.

Note the following reported in a letter from a Christian Scientist who is one of a group holding services in a locality where there is at present no Christian Science church or society. The group is sponsoring and paying for a series of advertisements of Science and Health, prepared by the Publishers' Agent in Boston, to be run in a local newspaper once a month for a twelve-month period:
