Home is found when Ps. 90:1 is spiritually understood

"Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations" (Ps. 90:1). This text appeared in the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly at the time I was told that I would be demobilized the following week. I had no home to go to, but my wife and I knew that the need had to be met spiritually before its external manifestation could be seen. We studied this passage and saw its spiritual significance.

A few days before our departure a friend offered to lend us his house during the period of my demobilization leave. This offer was made without any request from us. Our stay in that house was a joyful experience, but when I was due to start work, the problem of finding a home arose once more. The material evidence which was being thrust continually before us was that it was impossible to find any kind of accommodation. Here again we denied the evidence of the senses, and very shortly afterwards we were offered a flat which contained all that we needed and was conveniently situated for my work. Both these experiences showed us that however convinced mortal mind may be that a problem has no solution, divine Love will always show the way.

I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Christian Science for the protection it gave me during the five years I was serving in the Royal Air Force. Thanks to the study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, I was able to demonstrate freedom from fear and from accidents. It was a wonderful help to know, during long and seemingly lonely patrols over the ocean, that God is ever present and that man has dominion over all the earth; that life is not dependent on the weather, human skill, or mechanical efficiency, because God is Life.
