Twenty-two years ago I was led to take up the study of Christian Science. For a few years prior to that time I had been searching for a God that I could understand. Like the Athenians referred to by Paul (Acts 17:22, 23), I was ignorantly worshiping at the altar of an unknown God:

After reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for a short time. I knew that I had found the truth for which I had been searching. During the next few months I was in an exalted state of consciousness and realized the ever-presence of divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. Up to that time I had been afraid of almost everything, but these false fears or educated false beliefs, along with their physical manifestations, began to fade away. I knew that now God would be my only physician, so I threw away all my medicines.

At this time I was wearing a surgical support for an internal trouble. One morning the thought came to me that since I was now depending on God, I did not need any material support, so I left it off, and that was the end of that difficulty. Since that time I have been healed of sick headaches which I had had from childhood, chilblains, and a stomach trouble of long standing, believed to be hereditary, which several doctors failed to cure. I had been kept mostly on a strict milk diet, but for a number of years now I have been able to eat any kind of food.
