SPIRITUAL POWER VERSUS ATOMIC FORCE

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 107), "In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science." Though mortal mind failed to recognize the fact, that event first demonstrated the unreality of matter and so of the material atom. It brought to mankind a release of power never before dreamed possible. That power was the power of Truth evidenced in spiritual enlightenment, bringing untold blessings to mankind.

On page 273 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says: "Human belief has sought out many inventions, but not one of them can solve the problem of being without the divine Principle of divine Science. Deductions from material hypotheses are not scientific. They differ from real Science because they are not based on the divine law."

Liberation of thought is the forerunner of invention or discovery. In this age, after much scientific research and experiment, physical scientists have succeeded in splitting the atom, thereby releasing atomic energy and marking a new era in human experience.
