LET DEMONSTRATION TAKE PLACE

One who newly comes into Christian Science may at first be puzzled over the meaning of the word "demonstration." He need not long remain unenlightened, however, for a study of Mary Baker Eddy's use of the word in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," makes plain that a Christian Science demonstration is the revelation of the presence and power of God, Mind, to meet human needs.

We sometimes hear students of this Science remark that they would like to demonstrate a suitable home, proper companions and friends, or increased supply. However, Mrs. Eddy's writings plainly inculcate that because God is Spirit, only that which is of God, that which is real or spiritual, can be demonstrated. One cannot and does not demonstrate material things. But one's understanding of Truth is inevitably evidenced in health and in a more harmonious human experience.

Our Leader tells us in Science and Health (p. 335): "Spirit, God, has created all in and of Himself. Spirit never created matter. There is nothing in Spirit out of which matter could be made, for, as the Bible declares, without the Logos, the Æon or Word of God, 'was not anything made that was made.'" Then, if our need seems to be for a home, instead of dwelling in thought on a material structure and outlining where and what it should be, we should turn our thought Godward and realize that man, the idea of Spirit, forever dwells in the kingdom of heaven, the realm of the real, where God shelters, supplies, and abundantly provides for His idea.
