Signs of the Times

"The perfect example"

Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Luther D. Miller Chief of Chaplains, United States Army in the Circular Letter to fellow chaplains Washington, District of Columbia

To those sitting in the darkness of ignorance and superstition, physical, mental, and spiritual illness, the Galilean gave healing light and truth. To those in the shadow of death, he "brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." And to a world fearful of the shadows of war, he offers guidance into the way of peace. In the words of General Smuts, "Fundamentally, the world has no need of a new order or a new plan, but only of an honest and courageous application of the historic Christian idea. ... The love for God and man is the final answer to all the unsolved questions of the ages." The risen Christ, the Light of our world, shows us the way to peace.
