HOW MIGHTY IS TRUTH!

What a wonderful definition of God is Truth! In the book of Deuteronomy (32:3, 4) Moses elaborates on this theme thus: "I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he." And in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 593) Mary Baker Eddy gives this metaphysical interpretation of Rock: "Spiritual foundation; Truth."

Throughout the Old Testament the Hebrew word translated "truth" connotes reality, stability, that which is established and trustworthy. Many times in songs of praise to God do the psalmists extol the healing and protective qualities of divine Truth. God was very near and very real to the singers of Israel. They talked to the heavenly Father as intimately as to an earthly parent. Hear this prayer as given in the seventy-first Psalm (verses 3, 22): "Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. ... I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God."

A dictionary defines truth as the real state of things; fact; reality. God as Truth, therefore, must include all the facts, the realities of being. How natural, then, that Truthloving and Truth-understanding men and women should "continually resort" to this "strong habitation," this "rock" and "fortress"!
