ONE VOICE, NOT MANY VOICES

The belief of mortals that each has a life and mind of his own results in the belief that each has a voice of his own to utter his thought.

This mortal, material sense of creation—the outcome of erroneous so-called mortal mind—Christian Science teaches is the opposite of the spiritual and true creation. Spiritual creation, the one Mind's full manifestation, includes but one voice, the divine voice, the voice of Love and Truth. This voice is, like the Mind which is its source and substance, expressed by unlimited individualities, all builded together in the oneness of God's manifestation. Each has its own distinctive individuality, including its individual expression of the one Mind and this Mind's voice.

When Jesus came before Pilate and was examined by him on the charge that he was "one that perverteth the people" (Luke 23:14), Pilate three times voiced his conviction that Jesus was innocent. But the Master's accusers "were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed" (Luke 23:23). Here is a tragic example of how mortals in their ignorance of God and their deafness to His voice become the puppets of the carnal mind and its evil voice.
