On several occasions, when I have experienced injury as a result of an accident, I have had ample cause to be grateful to Christian Science. The following, which occurred in 1944 during the recent war, is of special interest.

I was cycling, as was my custom at that time, to my business in the city. At an important and busy crossroad, a lorry ran me down. I was rushed to one of the big London hospitals in an unconscious condition. My pocket papers revealed my identity and also that I was a Christian Scientist. My wife was informed that the medical verdict was that I probably should not recover consciousness. She refused to accept this verdict and asked permission for a Christian Science practitioner to attend me. This was readily agreed to, and much work was done at my bedside, the practitioner steadfastly maintaining the truth about man as revealed by Mrs. Eddy in Christian Science.

I entered the hospital on a Thursday morning, and on the following Sunday morning I recovered consciousness. I left the hospital on the Friday following and went to a Christian Science nursing home. After the week end I returned home, resuming my normal routine and activities, to the amazement of my friends and acquaintances. When the matron of the hospital was thanked, she stated that the case had been a revelation both to her and to the surgeon.
