It is with deepest gratitude to God that I offer this testimony, hoping that it may help others. In the fall of 1945 I was suddenly stricken with a very painful illness which would undoubtedly have been called inflammatory rheumatism. Christian Science help was asked for, and I began to improve immediately, although it was six weeks before I was completely free and again able to take up my home duties, for several years before this illness I had had at times severe pains in one knee, especially when wet weather was approaching, but since this healing I no longer have that trouble. This experience proved to me again the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care."

Before this illness I was employed in a government office and was also doing much of the work in my home, and so I thought it justifiable when I neglected the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Now I see how important it is to do first things first, and I find that when I do this, all the events of the day run more smoothly.

Christian Science does indeed make us well and keep us well, when we obey its rules. I am grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this healing truth, which has brought me peace and serenity; also to the practitioner and nurse who adhered so strictly to the teachings of our Leader.—(Mrs.) Gertrude S.
