SPIRITUAL STILLNESS

"He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven" (Ps. 107: 29, 30). In these words the Psalmist describes the protective power of God and shows how it is possible for us to come into the holy consciousness of Soul, where calm and stillness forever reign.

Spiritual stillness derives its impulse from divine Mind, the source of all real existence. It thus partakes of the nature of Mind and is spiritually mental. True stillness is the activity of quiet knowing, whereby the essence and reality of Mind's attributes are recognized, acknowledged, and made manifest in every day activities. As we express this stillness, we experience a greater sense of peace, harmony, and joy. It makes humanity more gentle and kind, enhances one's equanimity and serenity, and through these qualities of thought brings a clearer realization of the nearness of God, divine Love.

Spiritual stillness manifests itself in peaceful, productive, and purposeful activity. The true sense of stillness must come from the understanding of God's nature as infinite Mind, and of man as reflecting His nature. The right concept of the nature of God and man lights the way of our every experience, quickens our steps, and promotes true happiness and joy.
