PROTECTION BEYOND HUMAN MEASURE

He who understandingly affirms the spiritual fact of God's omnipresence and omnipotence cannot fail to perceive that there is a law which controls man, infinitely higher than that of physics. This law, the law of Spirit, makes ever available to all the intelligence with which to demonstrate the truth in any situation, regardless of how untoward it may seem.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 274), "Divine Science is absolute, and permits no half-way position in learning its Principle and rule—establishing it by demonstration." In a measure this fact has been proved in my experience, for in the past two years I have been protected so many times on the highway that it is no longer a question whether it was by coincidence or through the care of our tender, loving Father-Mother. It is vitally important to understand that true protection is found in the realization of the natural operation of harmonious divine law.

About a year and a half ago, on a seven-thousand-mile trip across the United States which took me through the Rocky Mountains, I felt impelled to affirm repeatedly that in reality man is not material, but spiritual, the expression of harmonious Soul, and that therefore my spiritual selfhood, forever at one with divine Love, could come to no harm. As I continued to reason from a spiritual basis it was clear that in the realm of Mind, God, there is no friction or inflammation; and consequently mishaps, which are the manifestation of such mortal mind beliefs, lessen and ultimately disappear from human experience in proportion to our understanding of the fact that all-knowing Mind is conscious only of spiritual harmony.
