"THY WILL BE DONE"

"Thy will be done,"
It once seemed hard to say,
As though in stern surrender to resign
All I had ever hoped or longed for, bend
My human will in humbleness to Thine.

But now I know,
Through Love's enlightening ray,
That in Thy will lies only good for me;
Not loss—but gain—enriches all my days,
A purer peace, a deeper harmony.

Thy will is done,
In gladness I can pray.
Seeing my Father's wise and guiding hand
In all I do, unnumbered joys are mine;
Such good for me His loving care has planned.
