"Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered" (Ps. 40:5).

I suffered for many years from stomach trouble, nervousness, and many other afflictions. I had doctors, chiropractors, and electrotherapy treatments, but received only temporary relief. Finally, I was told my condition would result in cancer.

While on a vacation in a large city, I was waiting for a sightseeing bus when I noticed a box with the sign, "Free—take one." I took a Sentinel, the first Christian Science literature I had ever seen. After I got back to the hotel that evening I read the Sentinel, and while reading I fell asleep. When I awakened the next morning, I seemed in a different world: I was entirely free from pain and suffering. I inquired about a Christian Science church and was given an address. I went there immediately, but found it closed. However, the address of the Reading Room was on the door. I went to the Reading Room and read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy until closing time. I was so uplifted that while walking home I felt as though I were walking on air.
