I wish to express my gratitude and deep appreciation for Christian Science.

Over twenty years ago I was sick, in great pain, and unable to make my living. The fear of what would become of me was almost unbearable. The Bible was a closed book to me, and I was not sure that there was a God. In this extremity I prayed. I said, "If there is a God, tell me what to do, and I will do it." As I have since learned, this was true prayer and was heard by my heavenly Father, for shortly after this I took up the study of Christian Science in earnest, well knowing it was the right thing to do.

The healing of an organic disorder was slow, for many lessons had to be learned. Many other physical ills disappeared during this period, while I learned that my sickness was the objectification of unlovely traits of character, which had to be eradicated through obedience to Mrs. Eddy's teachings. I have had many more healings in the intervening years. Some of these were of heart trouble, rheumatism, ivy poisoning, abscesses in the ears, constipation, backache, and influenza.
