"GOD'S REQUIREMENT"

Twenty years after Mary Baker Eddy gave to the world the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she published the first edition of the Manual of The Mother Church. Each Rule and By-Law was the result of prayer and was inspired of God. The Manual not only governs The Mother Church, but also guides and protects its members in every walk of human experience. One of these Rules, entitled "God's Requirement," reads as follows (Art. XXIV, Sect. 5): "God requires wisdom, economy, and brotherly love to characterize all the proceedings of the members of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist."

Success or failure in any enterprise is commensurate with the wisdom demonstrated. So it is in the practice of Christian Science.
