MINISTERING SERVICE
Among the healings of Jesus recorded in the Gospels, that of Simon Peter's wife's mother is significant. In the first chapter of Mark we read that Jesus entered the house with his disciples and found her lying on a bed, sick with a fever. The record continues (verse 31), "And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them."
A study of this healing shows that it was the touch of the Christ which restored this woman, and she expressed her gratitude by instantly arising to care for the material needs of Jesus and his disciples. It would not be difficult to imagine that never before had she ministered with such loving care as she now did for the Master.
What a helpful lesson the Christian Scientist may learn from this incident! The touch of the Christ can be woven like a golden thread through the fabric of humanity, its pure metal gleaming with the radiance of reflected Love.
