Christian Science has been a...

Christian Science has been a blessing to me, and I am grateful that when it was presented I was ready to receive the truth joyously and without reservation. This was at a time when there were general depression, financial troubles, and sickness in the family. I am grateful for the friends who guided my early steps as a student of this Science. Whenever the rules given in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, have been faithfully applied, every problem which has come to me has been solved.

One of the first tests came when our daughter was a child. She was ill with a fever and could not retain food. Her condition was alarming, so I called a Christian Science practitioner for help. She lovingly worked for several days. There seemed to be no improvement until it was discovered that the child's father wanted a doctor. He was willing first to talk with the practitioner, who kindly told him that it was his privilege to have a doctor, but he would have to choose between materia medica and Christian Science; he could not have both. It was pointed out that the doctor might possibly say that he could not help the child. Would the father then be willing to ask God to handle the case? My husband was then encouraged to tell what he knew about God. He said that he knew the Bible says that God is all power. "That is absolutely right, and there is no other power," replied the practitioner. The fear was overcome, and consent was given for further Christian Science treatment. The complete healing soon followed.

Our four children chose to go to the Christian Science Sunday School and were taught to use what they learned. Many problems concerning place and guidance were solved. Once a valuable article was restored to its rightful owner after Truth revealed its whereabouts. Chronic asthma and eczema were healed after all known material methods had failed to effect cures.
