When I first heard of Christian Science...

When I first heard of Christian Science and what it had done for a friend who was then an earnest student, I said I did not need it. However, I was interested in what it might do for another and said I would look into it for her. After reading some literature, I was told to go to the Reading Room and read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had not read for long when I found that this was the truth that I needed for myself, the truth that Christ Jesus had taught.

I began almost at once to claim "the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God" (Rom. 11:33) with resulting improved health, better eyesight, and loss of worry, nervousness, and weakness. Two instantaneous healings which took place soon after I started to read have been an inspiration ever since.

I was in college at the time and perhaps working too hard. Early one morning I awoke very ill with a bilious attack, so ill that I could not get up or call anyone. An angel message came to me. It was from Psalms (90:1): "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations." Almost immediately I fell asleep. In the morning I was free. Then I realized that this was a healing in Christian Science.
