It is difficult to put into words...
It is difficult to put into words the gratitude I feel for Christian Science.
A friend sent me a gift subscription to the periodicals. She knew of my slight interest in Science, but did not know of my extreme need at the time. This literature was truly a blessing, for it rekindled my interest. When, like the woman spoken of in the Bible, I "had suffered many things of many physicians, ... and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse" (Mark 5:26), I turned to a Christian Science practitioner for help. I was instantaneously and permanently healed of chronic headaches from which I had suffered for years. Soon afterward a throat condition, from which I had suffered yearly and which caused me to lose my voice, yielded in one treatment. This healing also has been permanent.
After going along smugly and being well pleased because of the quick healing results brought about by Christian Science treatment, I let down somewhat in my efforts and study. Soon I had something else to meet that did not yield so quickly. This was a most difficult period in my life. I was forced to give up preconceived notions about myself, such as pride of opinion, self-will, and a superiority complex. Although the condition never was diagnosed, I believe that it was a form of rheumatism. For many years prior to this experience I had suffered from neuritis and sciatica.
