"TODAY HATH NEED OF THEE"

During the war, Christian Scientists in the services were grateful for the prayers of those at home. From the testimonies given at the church services held wherever there were several Scientists in the armed forces stationed near one another, and from my own experience, I can assure you that these prayers had their effect in giving us protection from the difficulties of Army life overseas.

Now is the time for us all to continue these prayers for humanity— to pray for peace and understanding among nations. Day by day events show us that the world is in great need, and that there is no grander work to be done by those who love God and their fellow man. Let it be done regularly, daily, with a happy expectancy of success.

"But," someone may say, "we are so few compared to the many who are speaking and thinking erroneously." Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, knew this and declared (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 162), "A small group of wise thinkers is better than a wilderness of dullards and stronger than the might of empires." She gives the reason on page 252 of "Miscellaneous Writings," where she explains, "Right thoughts are reality and power; wrong thoughts are unreality and powerless, possessing the nature of dreams." The truth that these thoughts have no origin, no mind to come from, no mind to influence or to operate through, is present to be realized no matter how many people may seem to be believing in and voicing the inevitability of evil.
