WHAT AND WHERE IS QUANTITY?

What and where is true quantity—the property involved in the questions how great and how much? We can appreciate the fact that God is All only in the degree that we recognize that all true quantity is in Mind, God, and His spiritual universe, or manifestation, and is never in godless matter or the material sense of man and creation.

The devilish material mind, Truth's opposite, vigorously claims for itself and its transient creation all quantity. Mortal mind says that solid, liquid, or gaseous material substance, vast in quantity, is everywhere. It argues, too, that it has a large quantity of mortal personalities whom it animates with material thoughts, purposes, and desires. It claims a quantity of power sufficient to overpower good. Altogether the evil material mind claims for itself and its universe the quantity that belongs eternally only to God, infinite Truth.

Christian Science exposes the falsity of evil's claim that it is quantity. It shows that matter and evil can only seem to have quantity to the thought that accepts a false sense of cause and effect, and believes that mortal mind and its inanimate and animate phenomena are reality. But true quantity can be found only in the true idea of cause and effect, of God and His universe.
