"ASLEEP ON A PILLOW"

In his book, "Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy," Irving C. Tomlinson quotes Mrs. Eddy as once saying in substance (p. 77), "I had a restful sleep all last night and it is right to sleep restfully and soundly."

An interesting account in Mark (4:37, 38) tells how our Master, Christ Jesus, slept peacefully in the midst of seething error. We read: "And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow."

There are deeply valuable lessons to be gained from this record of our Master's sound and restful sleep, a repose such as Mrs. Eddy declared should be ours. To begin with, Jesus rested on a pillow, not on the hard coils of rope which were on the bottom of the ship, nor on any such surface as the stones that Jacob used for his pillows. Jesus reposed on a pillow, and he slept soundly amidst the tempestuous storm around him.
