TRUE HEREDITY

Christ Jesus taught his disciples to pray (Matt. 6:9), "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." To this Christly understanding of God as Father, Mary Baker Eddy adds her revelation of God as Mother. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the textbook, she writes (p. 332), "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation."

The Bible teaches and Christian Science reiterates that man is the child of God, spiritual and perfect, forever governed by His immutable law of perfection. This beneficent law of Spirit, God, is the law governing man's infallible spiritual inheritance. Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid., p. 63): "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry."
