THE SONG OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

Christian Science is a religion of joy. It tells the joyous news of the ever-presence of eternal good and of the perfection of man and the universe. The Christian Scientist's song is a hymn of praise—melodious, harmonious, expectant, spontaneous, and joy-inspired. In her Message to The Mother Church for 1900 our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (p. 2), "The song of Christian Science is, 'Work—work—work—watch and pray.' "

The heart of the grateful Christian Scientist always sings while he works, because work is revealed in Christian Science to be not human labor, not drudgery, but divinely inspired activity. This spiritual activity is the constant, increasing recognition and practice of the truth which Christian Science teaches regarding the perfection of God and His creation. It is also the forthright and courageous rejection of every lie which claims to deny to man perfect, Godlike being.

The Christian Scientist's ability to work metaphysically is not in himself. It is the reflection of the power of God, unfolding truth in human consciousness where error had seemed to be. Accompanying this manifestation of divine power is the song of angels, echoed and reechoed in the hearts of men. Demonstration of health, harmony, and abundance in Christian Science is the outcome of joyous spiritual knowing of the true idea of God and man.
