My gratitude for Christian Science...
My gratitude for Christian Science can best be expressed by sharing with others some of the blessings received through my experiences in over fifteen years of demonstrating this great truth.
About a year after becoming actively interested in Science I became quite dissatisfied with my progress in the firm by which I was employed. I did not appear to be utilizing to the best advantage the training I had received in school, so I consulted a Christian Science practitioner for some solution. The practitioner, readily discerning my real need at this time, admonished me to consider these words of Jesus (Matt. 6:33): "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." In obedience to the command implied in this statement I promptly began to study the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with the aid of the Christian Science Quarterly. This, to me, was seeking "first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness." Within a very short time an opening developed in my company which more nearly suited my qualifications. I was offered this position and was given a very substantial increase in salary.
Very shortly after this, however, owing to adverse business conditions in that period known as the depression, our company began to consider drastic reductions in personnel and salaries. I refused to accept this thought of depression and vigorously denied any suggestion of lack, holding to the thought that God is my employer and source of supply. The sentiment seemed to persist, however, that it would be necessary to reduce expenses by every means possible.
