I was ten years old when my mother became interested in Christian Science as the result of two beautiful healings, one of constipation and the other of a very disfiguring facial blemish. Ever since then I have had no other physician but God, and my gratitude to Him and to Mary Baker Eddy for showing suffering humanity how to find Him is boundless.
One of the greatest blessings that the study and practice of Christian Science have brought into my life has been immunity from worry over the health and welfare of my three children. From the time they were born, straight through the years of their childhood and young manhood and womanhood, until the time when they left our home and went out into the world on their own, I can truthfully say that it was only on very few occasions that I was ever tempted to be fearful or anxious about them. Material remedies were not used, and whenever the many suggestions of inharmony that seem to assail all children did come, such as colds, fever, accidents, childhood diseases, the remedy was always at hand, instantly applied, and the healing quickly and in many cases instantaneously followed. This remedy did not come off the shelf in a medicine closet or out of a doctor's bag, but came instead from those two priceless books, the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
I have been healed on two occasions of severe nervous breakdowns, during which I was unable to be left alone and suffered greatly night and day from insomnia and intense mental agony. The constantly recurring suggestion that I could not possibly be healed, made it doubly difficult, and both times it took nearly a year to accomplish the healing. However, through the loving ministrations of a Christian Science practitioner and my own persistent study, the light finally came, and I was completely freed.
